As a major collector, recycler, processor and marketer in an international marketplace, we fully recognize the positive impact that our everyday actions have on the communities and the regions in which we operate. Diverting from landfills and recycling materials such as cardboard, office paper, newspaper, plastics, tin and glass has far-reaching benefits on the environment.


Saving valuable energy by 'closing the loop'.

Using recycled materials to make new products uses far less energy than using virgin materials, lowering greenhouse gases.
METRO is a major player in 'closing the loop' in the recovery of recyclable materials for the manufacturing of new consumer goods. In fact, the majority of the materials METRO processes are turned into new products and sold back to the consumer.



As a subsidiary of Cascades, METRO recovers the recyclable materials and sells these materials to Cascades and Norampac as well as other manufacturers who in turn produce new products. These new products including corrugated cardboard boxes, tissue paper, fine paper, plastics and park benches are then reintroduced back to consumers including many METRO customers.
